*Sustainability matters, right?
I am just going to lay it all out, not what I think but what I do… and in this case they are different and to get them lined up just seems way to hard… Yes this is in part a white flag being waved but very reluctantly because I don’t want to be the one to let the side down.
Let’s not waste resources when others so desperately need them and lets please stop producing stuff that we can’t dispose of without damaging this awesome world we live in. I am about to ‘pass the buck’ on the use of sustainable products because I am woefully unprepared to deal with the influx of wrappings that come my way daily. Even when I make a real effort to do the right thing and use a compostable coffee cup I get told off by a warrior because they ‘don’t really compost’, its almost damned if I do and damned if I don’t.
I’m tired of companies wrapping all my must have products in skins that are destroying our planet then being dumped with the responsibility of disposing these skins in an appropriate way. Why can’t these big companies help and use more sustainable wrapping, take some of the strain off us end users who don’t have the time to shop at 5-10 different stores scattered across the city to buy bread in paper bags and vegetables without plastic coats or meat without wrappings that kill seals.
I know we must do better, I know I must do better but I am sick of being the last user in line and being lumped with all the plastics of the world and being told it’s up to me to do better….
How about the big players in the food industry put some R&D around developing better wrappings then its not up to 100 million people figuring out how to dispose of ‘bad’ stuff but 10 companies figuring out how not to use the bad stuff first. Just saying.
